DJ23 "Mischief" is a limited edition bronze sculpture.
We were diving in Mexico. A friend and I were down about 18 feet. The coral reefs were absolutely amazing. There was row of reefs and one formed a bowl. About 10 feet deep,20 feet wide and 30 feet long. We noticed a disturbance coming from inside. Thinking it was a shark attack or something large feeding, we went very carefully to the edge and looked over. There we saw a adolescent dolphin messing with a fairly large sea turtle. He would hold him down let him go and trap him again. The dolphin was playing with the turtle. After about 3 minutes the dolphin caught us out of the corner of his eye. He looked at us like he got caught doing something wrong and took off. When I return to my studio, I designed this piece and named it "Mischief".

The bronze sculptures are lost wax. Done in a foundry and the coloring is not paint. The coloring is patina. Applied with heat it causes a reaction to the copper in the bronze. The we put a clear coat that will keep it from changing or aging.
